Isotach was recorded entirely by Matthew at his house over a period of time. As a consequence, the recording is a mixture of different mic techniques and placements (based on whatever he’d been doing before). We wanted it to sound natural but larger than life so I ended up using all kinds of layers of compression and distortion at times to help achieve this. Despite being a piano and cello album!
